What is the South Australian Regional Centre of Culture?
The SA Regional Centre of Culture program reflects growing international interest in the valuable role of the arts and cultural programs in building strong and resourceful communities, enriching community life and fostering community wellbeing.
Through this initiative Country Arts SA encourages:
• new investments in regional cultural infrastructure
• new roles and methods for arts practices
• increased access to the arts for the host community
The concept that underpins the South Australian Regional Centre of Culture Program is the stimulus effect of an injection of arts activity into a major regional centre and the ripple effect it creates.
The program includes a diverse range of arts and cultural events, major events, history and heritage programs, writing, performances and exhibitions, and includes the work of many SA’s state arts and cultural organisations.
It includes exposure to professional arts product, high quality professional facilitation of community cultural development practices and projects and events developed by local groups and individuals.
