Community Partnerships Funding program
Country Arts SA on behalf of the Australia Council for the Arts provides information and advice to regional South Australians about the Community Partnerships Funding program.
Below is a brief introduction to Community Partnerships Grants and Initiatives offered by the Australia Council in 2011.

Applicants are strongly advised to contact community partnerships staff before submitting an application to discuss their project and the most appropriate funding round in which to lodge their application.
Community Partnership priorities
The community partnerships committee supports a number of priority areas that cover a range of geographic, demographic and social contexts. These priority areas serve to focus effective use of the resources of community partnerships and include regional Australia, disability, young people, cultural diversity, emerging communities, Indigenous people, remote Indigenous communities and specific critical social and cultural issues requiring focused attention.
GRANTS & INITIATIVES
- Partnership Development, Community Partnerships

Decisions advised: Within eight weeks of receipt of applications
Projects may start: two weeks after official notification
Partnership Development provides funding of up to $5,000 to assist artists, groups, or organisations to undertake further development and/or extension of effective partnerships.
This category supports the development of partnerships between arts and non-arts sectors that seek to achieve community arts and cultural development outcomes in one or more of the community partnerships priority areas. It does not support professional development, presentation and promotion, or project production.
- Creative Communities Partnerships, Community Partnerships
No closing date: Applications will be accepted at any time throughout the year.
Amount: $50,000 to $600,000
Creative Communities Partnerships is a specific government funding program to support major community arts and cultural development projects. Proposals should align arts and non-arts partners and identify clear outcomes that extend beyond the life of the project. The first phase of the application involves discussing the project with community partnerships staff and submitting a proof of concept. The second phase follows an invitation to present a full written application.

Amount: Up to $5,000

The JUMP National Mentoring Program for Young and Emerging Artists supports the career development of artists aged 18-30, and in the first five years of their professional practice, by providing mentoring opportunities with established professionals in their artform. Mentored artists receive funding of up to $5,000 for a creative concept, to be realised through a one on one relationship with their chosen mentor, and access to a range of professional development, showcasing and networking activities.

Amount: up to $20,000
This category provides funding for inividuals, groups and organisations to develop and implement community arts and cultural development projects with a range of partners. These projects may or may not have a public outcome. Consideration of an evaluation strategy is recommended. First time applicants are encouraged to apply.

Amount up to $12,000
Professional Development provides funding for individual artists and arts workers to build their professional capacity as community arts and cultrual development workers.
- Projects with Public Outcomes, Community Partnerships
Applications open: anytime from 1 February to 7 September 2011
Decisions advised: May, August and November 2011
Amount: $20,000 to $35,000
Projects with Public Outcomes provides funding for community arts and cultural development projects that involve both arts and non-arts partners and have strong public presentation outcomes. Individuals, groups or organisations are welcome to apply, provided they have sought financial support or co-funding from other sources.
- ArtStart, all artforms
Closing date: 2 March and 27 September 2011
Decisions advised: June and December 201
Amount: Up to $10,000
The ArtStart program provides financial assistance to recent creative arts graduates* who are committed to establishing a career as a professional artist. Graduates who plan to earn income or gain employment as a professional artist in the visual arts, hybrid and media arts, performing arts, literature or in community arts and cultural development may apply via the online application process.
- Creative Producer, Community Partnerships

Projects may start: 1 January 2012
Amount: $80,000
Creative Producer provides funding over a sustained period for individual practitioners to undertake community arts and cultural development projects by developing partnerships and working with communities to create and present work. Only individuals who have spoken to a Community Partnerships staff member are eligible to apply.
- Kirk Robson Awards, Community Partnerships

Amount: $10,000
The Kirk Robson Awards recognise leadership among young practitioners. Named after Kirk Robson, whose life was cut short tragically in 2005, the Kirk Robson Awards acknowledge leadership in the areas of inclusiveness, consensus, self-determination, reconciliation and social justice.
The award is worth $10,000 per recipient with up to three nominations being awarded. Artists and arts workers aged 30 and under can be nominated for the award.
- Ros Bower Award, Community Partnerships

Amount: $50,000
The Ros Bower Award recognises distinguished community arts and cultrual developmet practitioners who, over a lifetime, have fostered and furthered the ideals of Ros Bower, the pioneer of the Australia Councils Community Arts section. Outstanding artist or artsworkers can be nominated for the award.

Program grants provide one-year funding for community arts and cultrual development orgnaisations that have a track record of delivering innovative projects with arts and non-arts partners. Orgnaisations which have spoken to a Community Partnerships staff member and have more than 40 per cent of their funding from other sources are eligible to apply.
