Much of Henry Hoke’s work has been dispersed far and wide across the world.  As a result, it has taken many years of painstaking scholarship and patient research to assemble the evidence.  Many of his inventions were rediscovered in junk shops, garages, petrol stations and farm scrap heaps.

Mark Thomson is the Deep Shed Research Director at the slightly prestigious Australian Institute of Backyard Studies.  Prior to holding this responsible position, he worked as a designer, writer and photographer.  Mark’s life experiences are summarised by Sir Isaac Newton’s famous quote: ‘If I have seen further, it is by standing on the toes of midgets’.
